Is it still winter? I’m so over it. Even though the temps in Houston are still averaging in the 70s. I am just ready to wear bright colors again! For times like these, I like to introduce subtle pops of color into my wardrobe to brighten my day. Nothing says bright quite like neon…no matter the season, lol. To tone things down, I kept this look monotone by only using one color for the majority of the look. Beige is a great neutral because it works for all seasons. One trick to wearing a monotone look is to incorporate texture like I did here with a python belt. The belt is also the source of our pop of (neon) color. It is both small and bold which is good because we don’t want it to be too overbearing. It adds a modern point of interest to a timeless look.

Red bottoms. How many of us have them? Christian Louboutin, Miu Miu, Jimmy Choo, Giuseppe Zanotti, and Yves Saint Laurent. You name it and it probably will make my heart flutter…just a little bit. It is no secret that I have an infinity for shoes…especially the high kind, lol. I have a closet full to prove it. I don’t know about you but I’m not quite the baller…yet so I can’t afford to splurge on designer shoes often. If you are like me, you are wise to be an educated consumer when shopping for a designer pair of pumps. 1. Do your research. Spend some time getting to know a designer and their collections. Familiarize yourself with their classic styles versus ones that are unique to a particular collection. Also, figure out what the designer’s price range is and determine what your target price point would be. Finally, go to the mall and try on a few pairs from a variety of designers. 2. Keep it classic. If you consider this purchase to be a careful, spend wisely. Select a style that is classic that you can wear for years. Also, choose a color that is versatile that you can wear [...]

I’m a sucker for a handbag with good hardware. This clutch features modern detailing and a gold plate on the front. It is rare that I come across a clutch that features hardware so this one stood out to me. If that wasn’t enough, it also comes with a gold chain strap. For under $50, it is definitely a haute deal from a retailer that is known for quality merchandise, Nordstrom. It is available in brick and black. Click here to shop.

Wanna spark up an intense debate? Bring up the topic of Uggs, Crocs, or Toms. Generally, I wouldn’t consider a garment “controversial” short of it exposing a body part that shouldn’t be exposed in public. However, some of the most intense and passionate arguments that I’ve had heard over the past few years surrounded one of these shoes, lol. Crazy right? I will keep my opinions of all of the above to myself. However, I will say that I do own one of the above. Can you guess which? Still, I am dying to know what you hauties out there think about them so please share in the comments. Are any or all of these shoes, haute or not? Do you own a pair?

It is no secret that I am a major fan of designers collaborating with affordable retailers. I am so happy that the fresh designs of Jason Wu will be coming to my local Target on February 5th. Jason is a 29 year old designer that made a cannon ball of a splash on the fashion scene when his inaugural ball gown was selected by First Lady Michelle Obama. Expect classic styles with feminine finishes with lots of pleats and floral prints. The garments will range between $19.99 and $59.99. Here is a peek at the Jason Wu for Target lookbook:

Do you own any vests? I own a total of three. A black tuxedo vest, a casual khaki vest, and a puffer vest. I definitely feel like I should own a few more. Off the top of my head, I think I need a faux fur vest and a cargo vest….pronto. Vests are a great way to add another layer of interest to a look when you don’t quite need or want to wear a jacket. Most vests are versatile enough to be worn with a wide array of looks and styles. They work with almost anything which makes them great investments. If you haven’t noticed, fur vests have been EVERYWHERE this season. It is almost impossible to not notice, lol. ests are a great way to add another layer of interest to a look when you don’t want to go the blazer route. Another great vest investment is a cargo vest. Old Navy actually has one for a great price right now if you want to experiment with a new look. DIY Recommendation: Do you have an old jacket that you aren’t doing anything with? Consider chopping the arms off or taking it to a tailor to be professionally [...]
